Self-Adhesive Magnets for Packaging and Displays

An adhesive-backed magnet needs both a suitable magnetic arrangement and a reliable bond to the substrate. Test the complete closure or display before a production run.

Choose the magnetic arrangement

Decide whether the magnet will attract to a steel counterpart or to another magnet. For a magnet pair, confirm the required pole orientation before sticking either part down. Include the thickness of card, plastic or other layers between the parts when checking the closure.

Check the adhesive specification

Read the adhesive information on the selected product rather than assuming all adhesive-backed magnets use the same system. The substrate, surface finish, temperature and loading method affect the bond. Ask for confirmation when the listing does not provide the information your application needs.

Prepare and test

Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions for surface preparation, pressure and time before loading. A clean, dry surface is a starting point, but it does not establish compatibility with every finish. Test samples of the actual packaging or display material, including opening cycles and the expected environment.

Specify a production enquiry

Send the magnet SKU, quantity, substrate, gap and pole arrangement. Include any required delivery date. Keep the agreed part and assembly details in your specification so that future orders use the same configuration.
